June 2012 Meeting Summary

< Previous Meeting | Index | Next Meeting > For this month's presentation, Gordon Illg of Adventure Photography wove a tale of photographing on islands, from Carribean islands (both the resort side and the deserted desert side) to the head of an alligator and the back of a turtle. As always, Gordon & Cathy's outstanding nature photos, both wildlife and scenic, were the backbone of his engaging storytelling.

Gordon also volunteered to serve as the judge for the evening's competition. His witty comments brought laughter from the audience while providing useful praise and constructive criticism. My personal favorites of his wry comments were: "You should have moved closer to the edge of the waterfall" (for an image obtained from the top of a waterfall) and "I would have cut down those yuccas as soon as I pressed the shutter so no one else could get such an awesome image!" ( for a photo of swift fox cubs with pristine yucca blooms behind the cubs).

If you would like to see more of Gordon and Cathy's images or to see a listing of their upcoming photo tours, go to their Adventure Photography website at advenphoto.com.
