January 2011 Meeting Summary

< Previous Meeting | Index | Next Meeting > Chris Brown, a Boulder based photographer whose work is in the collection of the Denver Museum of Art, gave a thought provoking presentation as the speaker at our January meeting. Mr. Brown showed us images from his new book, Path of Beauty-Photographic Adventures of the Grand Canyon. Mr. Brown uses a large format camera to create both large scale and intimate landscapes. Many of his images were obtained during raft trips inside the canyon. The colors and details in his images cause one to wonder if they are paintings or photographs. If your missed the meeting, please see his website www.chrisbrown.com to experience his imagery for yourself. The website also includes listings of his classes and a method to purchase the book.

After the presentation, Cathy Sheeter served as judge for the competition. Cathy provided succinct, constructive comments about each image, keeping the speed going without sacrificing information that would be helpful for each images' maker. < Previous Meeting | Index | Next Meeting >
