On Friday February 21, Apple announced a very serious vulnerability in iOS 7 and OS X (the operating systems for Apple devices) which allows hackers to intercept and decrypt messages that are meant to be encrypted. Any software relying on Apple's SSL library will be at risk until it is patched. Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox are among the applications not affected, but Apple's Safari, Mail, Messages and many other programs, are thought to be vulnerable.

A software update was released to fix vulnerabilities in iOS 7, the operating system for Apple mobile devices (iPhone, iPad, iPad mini). We encourage you to install the latest version of iOS (iOS 7.0.6) on your Apple mobile device as soon as possible. A software update for OS X, the operating system for Mac computers, will be released sometime in the very near future. Mac users should update their operating system as soon as this update is released.

Do not use any untrusted networks (especially Wi-Fi) while traveling until you can update the device from a trusted network.
