Is Photoshop User Magazine Helpful?

I'm new to Photoshop, taking a class to learn it plus picking up information via the MHWPC. Have any members subscribed to Photoshop User magazine? If so, did you consider it worthwhile or useful? Do you think it would be useful to a fairly experienced photographer that is new to Photoshop CS4?

Long answer to your question: I joined NAPP (National Association of Photoshop Professionals; photoshopuser.com) and received the magazine as part of the whole package. It seems, if I remember correctly, that's the only way to get the magazine. Along with Photoshop User, there are also Members-only discounts through various suppliers; you can create an online portfolio, you'll get Photoshop tech support and you also get substantial discounts on books, videos and seminars. My favorite part of this program is an endless number of video and step-by-step tutorials on just about every topic imaginable available at the click of your mouse. I joined at a discounted rate in conjunction with one of the Kelby Seminars. You might consider that option as well (http://www.kelbytraining.com.)

Short answer, yes, even from my shallow pocketbook. This is a membership I'll renew for the long term.

I attended one of Scott Kelby's classes last year (Lightroom) and I recall him saying that if you joined NAPP, you could get free shipping from B&H Photo. I did not join at that time, but you may want to check into this to see if it is still true and if that would influence your decision based upon how often you order from them.

Membership to NAPP is worth it for me for the reasons already mentioned. If it was just Photoshop User magazine I would say no but the online videos and support on the website plus the discounts (Free 2 day shipping with B&H) plus the magazine add up to a good value for me. If you are looking for Photoshop training - I'd also recommend lynda.com
