The aspen in the Ridgway area are at various stages --- some still green and some already bare. The area around Dallas Divide is near or just past peak. County Road 5 has good color, but quite a few still-green trees. Last Dollar Road has a mix of still-green and bare trees, with some areas that are photographically interesting. The Ophir side of Ophir Pass is spectacular.

The weather is not cooperating. It was mostly cloudy on Friday afternoon with some light rain and it was cloudy all day Saturday with light rain. This morning there were some nice breaks in the clouds, but it's completely cloudy again. The good news is that we're getting snow on the peaks.

The area should be great when the weather breaks.

County Road 7 (East Dallas Creek) has a mix of still-green and prime aspen. County Road 9 (West Dallas Creek) has a mix of prime and just-past aspen. Owl Creek Pass is just about prime on the west side. Silverjack is not yet ready for prime time, but should be good in a couple of days.

The weather broke yesterday morning and it was glorious! Nice clouds with color last night too. :)

The area should still be good this weekend. We'll be heading back towards Denver today to make the meeting tomorrow, so this will end my fall color reports for 2008.
