Vivitar or Satechi Remote Release

Has anyone ever used a REMOTE type cable releases as opposed to the type of cable release that hard wires to your camera? There's one made by Vivitar and another by Satechi (photo attached.) The price and possibilities seem too good to be true. I'm wondering about their reliability and performance OR are they junk?

Please get back to me via my email so everyone's email doesn't get bogged down in a discussion. If I get good reports and wind up buying one, I'll make an announcement at the club - thanks

I've been using a Shoot RS-300 RS-80N3 Wireless Remote for my Canon gear and I love it. It's so nice not to have a cord dangling around in the wet vegetation when shooting wildflowers at ground level. The nice thing about the Shoot model is that it has a locking connector instead of just a friction fit connector like most third party remotes for Canon. It was dirt cheap and has lasted about two years so far.
